Wind Surf cruise to the Caribbean

Windstar cruise to the Caribbean on the Wind Surf.

Windstar Cruises offer luxury at sea with 3 sailing vessels with a total capacity of 148 to 342 passengers. They also have 4 large yachts with capacity of 224 to 312 passengers.

The cruise we took was the Yachtsman Cruise or Beach Fun & Sun: A Remote Caribbean Getaway Cruise which sailed round-trip from St. Maarten.

We added a pre and post stay in St. Maarten. The 2 night pre cruise stay was in Pillipsburg, on the French side of the island, at Divi Little Bay resort.  Our room was right off the beach and the room, service, entertainment, food and overall experience was wonderful.  We could see our ship arrive  on the over side of the bay.

The 2 night Post cruise stay was on the French side of the island at Radisson Blu St. Martin Resort.  It was exceptional .  The pool, amenities and grounds were lovely.  Dinner on the Terrence restaurant was especially wonderful.

A quick taxi ride got us from the Divi Little Bay resort to the cruise terminal, the boarding process was expedient and very welcoming.  The ship is a marvel, a stunning 5 masted powered sailing vessel.  We enjoyed exploring the complete vessel, including the bridge.  While under sail, the feeling is smooth and majestic.

Every day of the itinerary was fantastic (St Maarten-Antigua-Tortola-Jost Van Dyke-Virgin Gorda-St. Barthelemy-St Maarten).  We never once encountered a huge ship at the same port, so we were able to enjoy uncrowded shops, beaches and sights.  It really felt like a semi private cruise.

The onboard spaces on the ship were well appointed and spacious.  The feel was luxurious and inviting. Our cabin #302, was small but had so much useful storage that it felt very roomy.  The food was gourmet and wonderfully prepared.  Dining around the pool is the evening was so incredible.  All the tables were linen covered and candlelight.  Stunning every evening, although we could only dine there twice (giving everyone an opportunity) we would highly recommend this option in good weather, since it is not under cover.

The entertainment is more limited than on the big ships, but features locals, the ship’s crew and nightly shows.  Our favorite spot in the evening was on the Terrace Bar, partially outdoors.  We would listen to a duo perform, under the stars it was pure magic. The excursions were varied, fun and informative, just depended on what interests you personally.   We took an excursion to the Baths at Virgin Gorda, it was such an intimate experience.  One day we stayed onboard during a stop and had the vessel and pool to ourselves.  It was so relaxing, romantic, scenic and stress free.  If you prefer fever passengers, more adults (this is not a children friendly cruise line) , excellent cuisine and service., then this is for you.  Grab your partner, some friends or a group and, pick the dates and destination you prefer.
