The magic of Christmas Markets, Cheers!

Christmas Markets River Cruises are truly magical.  The shopping, the music, the lights, the decorations and sharing it all with the new friends you'll meet or bringing along old ones.  Honestly, if you like Christmas and have the Christmas spirit, or need to up yours a little, then I can only say, book these cruise itineraries now for the next Christmas season.

I have done these Christmas markets cruises on the Rhine and Danube and found each one special and unique.  We went from Amsterdam to Basel Switzerland and flew out of Zurich after a post cruise stay there.

The Danube we went from Vienna to Nuremburg with a post cruise stay in Prague.  We sipped mugs of hot mulled wine while we strolled the markets and towns.      Our stay at the Vienna Intercontinental was beautiful, staff was excellent, food was great.  Location was very convenient for the Hop-on-hop off tour and this was the hotel for the Avalon loading as well.  Easy transfer to the ship from the hotel after a short wait in the ballroom.  Recommend the two day hop-on-hop off tour.  Very informative and since the city is so big and amazing, it saves on the walking.   The Panoramic boat was stunning.  Huge floor to ceiling wall to wall glass doors in our cabin, your entire room becomes the balcony, you have more space.  The dining was varied and generous portions including local cuisine, beers and wines.  The wine region is highly recommended for clients that are wine enthusiasts.    Nuremburg:  Beautifully fully restored old city, previously destroyed in WWII.  Very pretty Christmas market. Durnstein-Apricots are their specialty, in jam, wines, and more.  Wonderful tour around the area and beautiful scenery.  Prague really was a stunning  city one of our favorites that we visited-great for history and old architecture.  The White Horse is a fabulous restaurant, if you choose to eat there and enjoy the entertainment, you must do so in the basement it is really a special treat.  Best Christmas display is in old city with fabulous markets and shops nearby.  The Charles bridge with it’s statue's even had local artist vendors during the market time.Salzburg was another special stop, great for all visitors, especially those fans of Sound of Music. Regensburg-Got to visit Wurstkuchl for sausage, sour kraut and a beer, delicious (everyone ate their entire plate).  Desembarkation was super easy, coach picked us up at the hotel and took us to the airport. Prague airport was small, convenient and no issues with language, food or boarding. In summary it was a Great trip and I highly recommend it.
